We came, we drank, we conquered
A large contingent of Merri Mashers have just arrived home from ANHC Four in our nation's capital. We filled our heads with knowlege and our bellies with amazing brews & food. Mind you, knowledge and hangovers aren't the only thing we flew back to Melbourne with, we also arrived with slightly inflated egos and a brand new Jockey Box after popular vote named our Ultimate Session Beer (USB) the best of club night.
The brief for the USB competition was simple, there were 2 criteria to be met.
- Make a beer you can drink all day (under 4.5%)
- Brew it as a club
We entered our Ronnie Ryan Red Ale, brewed in Pentridge Prison during the Northern Craft Beer Festival. The recipe for the beer originally came from our very own Wolfman (Shannon Brooks) and was modified slighlty to drop the alcohol content to 4.5%. Those of us lucky enough to be there on the night celebrated in style but the win goes to the whole club and we should all be very proud to have made such an impact at the first major event we've entered.
